Introduction. Passenger transport retains an interconnected structure of economic space in the country, ensures the stability of enterprises and organizations, increase the mobility of people, from its effective work depend key social, political and economic processes in the country. The article contains the consideration of the need to study the passenger transport market in the context of the modern society development. Empirical results. This part includes the following: consideration the main trends of the market for various passenger transport in the Privolzhsky Federal District in 2008–2013; consideration the analysis using the principal component method, that allowed to divide all VFD’s parts by status and development of the transport sector. Also, this part contains a description of the main characteristic of regions groups, defined by financial and economic activities of the transport industry, material and technical basis of transport and transport accidents. Conclusions. This part confirms the objectivity of the application of multivariate statistical analysis of the passenger transport market and the accuracy of the research results.
