In article theoretical and methodological questions of transformation of structure of employment in the Russian economy are discussed. Through the structure of employment of the population generated in the country an indirect route it is possible to receive the information characterising efficiency of a social production. In article the analysis of change of structure of the occupied population from 1992 on 2008 is carried out. The general tendencies of employment of the population in Russia also come to light.

Introduction. The population change is an actual direction of research not only for economists, but also for sociologists, political scientists, and psychologists. The author presents the author’s results of modeling the population of the Saratov region of working age. Theoretical analysis. For the economy of the Saratov region, it is necessary to analyze the use of labor resources in order to carry out literate policies.
